About
I am a Tasmanian fashion designer and my studio looks out onto a slightly unkempt but enchanting garden. I often take a moment out from my work by stepping outside – to pause for thought, feel the warmth of the sun or pick a few flowers and it was in one of those moments that I created the first garden fairy’s dress.
Since then my Garden Fairy’s Wardrobe™ has turned into quite a collection that continues to grow, as does the enjoyment I get from creating them.
Part of that enjoyment comes from their ephemeral nature and the immediacy of being able to transform a design idea into reality, in contrast to the hours to turn fabric into the same idea.
Photographing the designs was initially a way of documenting the moment that has turned into a range of cards and prints available from my petal & pins shop (for stockist / wholesale enquiries please contact me).
I invite you to subscribe to this blog to see what new additions appear in the fairy’s wardrobe and other creative musings from my studio and garden. Enjoy!

Hi, I’ve been following your blog for a while and I really love it!
I was wondering if I can make a post about your blog where I also want to use some pictures of your amazing flower designs and, if you want, I would also like to ask you some questions about them.
If you want this, can you please contact me at this e-mail alexandra_chicpeonies@yahoo.com ? 😀
Thanks Alexandra! I’ve emailed you in regards to your request.

What a delightful and enchanting idea. At the moment my garden is blanketed in snow, but your images are bathed in a sweet floral perfume that has me longing for spring.
Thank You Ziggy.Alas my garden never gets a blanket of snow, but it won’t be long until the leaves start to turn and it’s carpeted in a crunchy layer of leaves in the meantime my dog Agnes likes to think the apple tree is a ‘ball’ tree.

You have captured my imagination! I found your blog searching for pictures of fairies dressed in clothing made from flowers, as they appeared in one of my favourite books as a child. I didn’t find them, but I found something just as wonderful – your art. Thank you 🙂
Thank you Fiona, I’m pleased you found it and hope you continue to enjoy seeing inside my Garden Fairy’s wardrobe.

Love your stuff. Very clever.
Thanks Keryn. I look forward to trying some of your cake recipes!
Hi Sandra, your creations are incredible – endearing and ethereal all rolled into one. I loved the Flower Fairies books as a child, still can’t resist them actually, and your designs invoke a similar fascination for me. Beautiful!
Thanks Chez I get so much enjoyment creating them – and sharing them here and with my cards.

I’m glad you found my blog – because it led me to yours. Love the fairy dresses, and your blog has a lovely feel to it, gentle and calm and welcoming.
Thank You Claudette! Am I right in thinking I made your wedding outfit – beautiful red silk embroidered jacket when I had my studio in Battery Point??
I apologies, I cannot remember who I had make it, but if your Studio was upstairs in Elizabeth St in North Hobart in 1998, then yes, I had a beautiful red jacket, with loop and buttons up the front and a plain straight skirt with a long slit up the side. I guess you saw the photo on the blog? I still have the suit, but alas no longer fit into it but live in hope that one day I will again.
I just checked and yes, your name is on my suit. 🙂 It really is a small world, isn’t it.
Yes it would have been when I was inElizabeth St Nth Hobart (-:
